While I was a young man I would see a lady I was attracted to and believed I had to express to her how much I liked her right away. Well that was leaping up several steps on the ladder. I didn't even know her.
The first step is a straightforward "Hi" and a smile. Then keep walking. Get confident simply saying "Hi" to girls. Then as step two when they say "Hi" back or ask you a question, reply to the question, or comment on something that she has her attention on to continue the conversation. For instance, if you are in a bookstore and she is taking a look at a book on cooking, ask her what she thinks of that book. Is it worth it?
Conversations develop naturally. Do not push it. Familiarize yourself with her prior to deciding that you like her.
Needless to say, there is a whole lot more to it, but these are good basics to begin with. If you use gradients ultimately you will know how to meet women.
